The AgentSoul iPhone app and the AgentSoul website forge the same thing: an Enneagram-based reading and four agent files you can drop into your AI tools. The difference is where and how. The app is designed for the phone in your hand, with no account and phone-native features; the website at agentsoul.market works on any device and currently offers one extra forge, the 49-question Deep Forge.
Side by side
- Forges — App: Flash Forge 闪电熔铸 and Gao Dao 高导. Web: Flash Forge, Gao Dao and Deep Forge.
- Output — Both: a named soul and the four files soul.md, identity.md, user.md and agents.md. Gao Dao (and Deep Forge on the web) also give an Enneagram type and wing; Flash Forge describes your voice, pushback and priorities instead of a type number.
- Account — App: none, ever; souls are tied to an anonymous device ID. Web: no account needed to forge; an optional profile lets you publish souls to the public directory.
- Devices — App: iPhone with iOS 15.0 or later. Web: any modern browser, including iPad, Android, Mac and Windows.
- Languages — App: English and Simplified Chinese, switchable in Settings. Web: English and Chinese; Deep Forge is English only.
- Price — Both free.
What the app does better
The app exists because a phone is where your chats already live and where you are most likely to have five spare minutes. It leans into that:
- Native photo picker. Choose 3–10 chat screenshots straight from Photos. The app sees only the ones you pick, and resizes them on the phone before sending.
- Hold-to-talk in Gao Dao. Speak your answers instead of typing. Speech is recognised on the device, so no audio leaves your phone.
- One calm notification. While Flash Forge works, you can tap to be told once when your soul is ready. The permission is only ever asked from your tap.
- My souls library. Every soul you forge is kept in a list on the phone, ready to reopen.
- Share sheet. AirDrop your four files to a Mac, save them to Files, or email them to yourself in a couple of taps.
- Consent built in. Before anything goes to the AI for the first time, a clear consent screen explains what is sent to Google Gemini and lets you say no.
What the web does better
- Deep Forge. The 49-question Enneagram questionnaire is web-only for now. It runs in English and its scoring happens on AgentSoul’s servers rather than through an AI model.
- Any device. On iPad, Android, a Mac or a Windows PC, the website is the way in.
- A big screen. If you are going to edit your agent files straight away, forging on the same computer saves a transfer step.
- Publishing. On the web, you can choose to publish a soul to the public directory at agentsoul.market and keep a creator profile.
Which should you use?
If you have an iPhone and want the quickest path from your chats to a working agent, start with the app. Flash Forge takes a few minutes; Gao Dao takes longer and goes deeper, and both feel more natural on a phone.
If you want the structured questionnaire, are not on an iPhone, or want to publish your soul, use the web. And nothing stops you using both — forging the same person through different material is a good way to test whether the picture holds up.
“Two forges, one fire. The blade you carry away is the same four files.”
One thing to remember
App souls and web souls do not sync. The app has no account, so there is nothing to link them. The bridge between them is the files themselves: once your four Markdown files are on your computer, it does not matter which forge made them.
Questions
Are the files from the app different from the files from the web?
No. Both produce the same four Markdown files — soul.md, identity.md, user.md and agents.md — that you drop into Claude Code, OpenClaw or another agent harness.
Can I see my app souls on the website?
No. The app has no account, so souls forged on your iPhone live in that phone’s My souls library. Send the files to your computer to use them elsewhere.
When will Deep Forge come to the app?
Deep Forge is planned for version 1.1 of the app. Until then, take it on the web at agentsoul.market.
