Yes, the AgentSoul iPhone app is genuinely free. It costs nothing to download, it has no in-app purchases, no subscription and no ads, and it never asks you to create an account. Every feature in the app is available to everyone; the only boundary is a daily limit on Gao Dao conversations.
What “free” covers
- Flash Forge 闪电熔铸 — a reading from 3–10 of your chat screenshots, or from the built-in sample chats.
- Gao Dao 高导 — the Chinese-speaking mentor conversation, with on-device voice input.
- Your result — a named soul with its traits; Gao Dao also gives your Enneagram type and wing, marked on the Enneagram figure (the app’s sigil).
- All four agent files — soul.md, identity.md, user.md and agents.md — ready to send to your computer.
- The Gao Dao in-depth report (高导深度报告), included at no cost.
- My souls, your on-device library, and Settings, including Delete my data.
There is no “pro” version waiting behind a button, no trial that expires, and no file held back until you pay. You will not find a price or a lock anywhere in the app.
No ads, no account, no selling data
A common worry with free apps is that you pay in another way. Here is what AgentSoul does not do:
- No advertising. The app shows no ads and uses no advertising identifiers.
- No account. There is nothing to sign up for; your souls are tied to an anonymous device ID.
- No selling. AgentSoul does not sell personal data, and your content is used only to produce your reading and files.
- No cross-app tracking. The app does not follow you across other companies’ apps or websites.
Just as telling is what the app never asks you for. You will not be asked for an email address, a phone number, a password or payment details. The only permissions it requests are ones you trigger yourself: access to the screenshots you pick, the microphone when you tap to talk to Gao Dao, and notifications if you ask to be told when a soul is ready. None of these is requested when the app launches.
The one limit: Gao Dao’s daily cap
Every Gao Dao reply is generated by an AI model, and every reply has a real cost. To keep the mentor available for everyone, Gao Dao has a daily usage limit. If you reach it, the app says “Gao Dao has had a full day. Please come back tomorrow.” Nothing is lost: you can resume your last conversation, and you can still use Flash Forge and open your existing souls in the meantime.
Why keep it free?
The app is the pocket-sized doorway to AgentSoul’s Soul Forge, the same forge that runs on the web at agentsoul.market. Its job is to get you from “I wonder what kind of agent would suit me” to four working files as quickly and calmly as possible. A paywall in the middle of that would defeat the point.
Keeping the app free also keeps it simple. With no purchases there are no receipts to restore and no account to recover — which fits an app designed to need as little from you as it can.
