What is the AgentSoul iPhone app (干将)?

AgentSoul: Enneagram for Bots, called 干将 in Chinese, is a free iPhone app that reads how you talk or think and forges a personality for your AI agent: a named soul with three behaviour traits (and, with the Gao Dao mentor, an Enneagram type and wing) plus four Markdown files you can drop into Claude Code, OpenClaw, Cursor or Hermes.

AgentSoul is an iPhone app that gives your AI agent a personality grounded in your own. You show it how you talk, through a few chat screenshots or a short conversation with a mentor, and it returns a named soul, a short description of how your agent should sound and behave, and four ready-to-use agent files. The mentor path also gives you an Enneagram type and wing. The App Store name is “AgentSoul: Enneagram for Bots”; in Chinese it is “干将: 九型人格与智能体”.

The app is free, needs no account and works in English and Simplified Chinese. It was approved by Apple in October 2026 and is published by Innovatorly Ltd, a company registered in the UK.

What problem does it solve?

Most AI agents start every session as a polite stranger. They do not know whether you want blunt pushback or gentle suggestions, whether you decide fast or slowly, or what you care about when a task gets messy. Agent harnesses such as Claude Code and OpenClaw can read configuration files that describe who the agent is and who it serves, but writing those files from a blank page is hard.

AgentSoul fills that blank page for you. It reads your tone, clarity, pacing and the way you handle conflict, and, in the mentor conversation, uses the Enneagram, a nine-type model of motivation and fear, as a vocabulary for temperament. Then it writes the result into files an agent can actually read.

Two ways to forge a soul

After the welcome screen and its single “Start forging” button, you choose one of two forges. Both lead to the same four files.

  • Flash Forge (闪电熔铸) is the fastest path. You pick 3 to 10 screenshots of your own chats, and the AI reads your rhythm, word choice and motives. A reading usually takes 30 to 120 seconds.
  • Gao Dao (高导) is the deepest path. A mentor asks you up to 12 questions about real moments in your life, in Chinese, and you can type or hold to talk. You also receive a free in-depth report.

If you have no screenshots to hand, Flash Forge has a “Try it with sample chats” option that runs on fictional example chats, so you can see a full result first.

What you get at the end

Your result screen shows a name for your soul, the Enneagram figure (the app’s sigil) and three short traits: Voice, Pushback and Priority. A Flash Forge result is labelled “Flash Forge” rather than given a type number; a Gao Dao result adds your Enneagram type from 1 to 9, usually with a wing, and marks them on the figure. Either way, you get four Markdown files:

  • soul.md: who the agent is, including its name, nature, core values, vibe, aspiration, rules and unknowns. It is the first file an agent reads.
  • identity.md: the public card, with display name, role, signature glyph, platform binding and routing context.
  • user.md: who the agent serves, including your name, role, goals, preferences and access.
  • agents.md: the operating manual, covering the job, the agent’s role, its steps and when to escalate to a human.

You send the files to your computer with the iPhone share sheet, by AirDrop, Save to Files or email, and place them in your agent’s project or workspace.

The first time you forge, the app shows a consent screen before anything leaves your phone. It explains that your screenshots or conversation text are sent to Google Gemini, a third-party AI service, to produce the reading. Nothing is sent until you agree, and you can withdraw consent in Settings at any time.

Flash Forge screenshots are resized on the iPhone, processed in memory and never stored; only the resulting reading is kept. Gao Dao keeps a summary of the conversation, not your raw messages. Voice input in Gao Dao is recognised on the device, so no audio leaves the phone. Settings includes a “Delete my data” option that removes everything linked to your device.

The app is free, with no in-app purchases, no subscription and no ads. There is a daily usage limit to keep the AI service sustainable.

Who it is for and where it runs

AgentSoul is made for two overlapping groups: people who build or use AI agents and want them to feel less generic, and Chinese speakers around the world who want a mentor that thinks and talks in their language. It requires an iPhone with iOS 15.0 or later and carries a 13+ age rating. It is available in 174 App Store regions, including Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau, Singapore, Malaysia, the UK, the US, Canada and Australia, but not China mainland.

There is no iPad or Android app yet. On other devices you can use the web Soul Forge at agentsoul.market, which produces the same four files and also hosts Deep Forge, the 49-question Enneagram questionnaire that is planned for the app in version 1.1.

Questions

Is AgentSoul a personality test for people or for bots?

Both, in a sense. It reads your own patterns of speech and decision-making, then turns them into a personality configuration for an AI agent that will work with you or on your behalf.

Do I need an account to use the app?

No. There is no sign-up. Your souls are tied to an anonymous ID on your iPhone, and you can delete everything from Settings.

What does the name 干将 mean?

干将 (Gan Jiang) is the legendary sword-smith of ancient China. The app borrows the image: instead of forging a blade, you forge a soul for your agent.
