Your first soul takes about five minutes. Install AgentSoul, tap “Start forging”, choose Flash Forge, agree to the AI consent screen, pick a handful of your own chat screenshots and tap “Start reading”. The app returns a named soul with three behaviour traits and four agent files you can send straight to your computer.
This guide walks the fastest route. If you prefer a slower, more reflective session, the Gao Dao mentor gives the same files and is covered in its own guide.
Before you start
- An iPhone running iOS 15.0 or later.
- AgentSoul: Enneagram for Bots (干将) from the App Store. It is free, with no sign-up.
- Three to ten screenshots of your own chats in your Photos library, or nothing at all if you want to try the sample chats first.
- A network connection, since the reading itself happens on an AI service.
A good batch of screenshots shows you writing in your natural voice: a group chat with friends, a back-and-forth with a colleague, a thread where you made a decision. Variety helps more than volume.
Step by step
- Open the app and tap “Start forging” on the welcome screen.
- On “Choose a forge”, tap Flash Forge, the option tagged Fastest.
- Read the consent screen. It explains that the screenshots you choose, including any names and text in them, are sent to Google’s Gemini API to produce your reading. Tap “Agree and continue”. You only see this once, and you can withdraw it later in Settings.
- Tap “Choose screenshots”. The standard iPhone photo picker opens, and the app only sees the images you select. Pick between three and ten.
- Check the grid. Remove any screenshot that shows mostly other people talking, then tap “Start reading”.
- Wait while the app reads your screenshots, picks up your rhythm and word choice, infers motives, fears and desires, and forges the four files. You can tap “Notify me when it’s ready” and leave the app.
- When the soul is revealed, look over its name, sigil and traits, then tap “Get the four files”.
- Tap “Send to computer” and choose AirDrop, Save to Files or Mail.
No screenshots? Use the sample chats
On the screenshot screen there is a link that reads “No chat screenshots to hand? Try it with sample chats”. It loads a set of fictional chats so you can watch the whole process and see a real result screen without sharing anything personal. The result reflects the fictional writer, not you, so treat it as a tour rather than your own soul.
Reading your first result
The reveal screen is labelled “Flash Forge · 闪电熔铸” and shows a name for your soul and its sigil. Flash Forge does not assign an Enneagram type number; it reads your style instead. Beneath the name you will see three short soul traits, labelled Voice, Pushback and Priority: how your agent should sound, how firmly it should disagree with you, and what it puts first. If you later want a type and wing, a Gao Dao conversation gives you both. The screen also reminds you that the reading is a hypothesis, not a diagnosis.
Your soul is saved in My souls on this iPhone. Souls live only on this device, so send the files to your computer before you ever delete the app.
If something goes wrong
- “We couldn’t read any chat content”: choose screenshots where the message text is clearly visible, not photos or heavily cropped images.
- “Taking longer than usual”: wait a moment and tap “Check again”.
- “You’ve used today’s readings”: there is a daily limit; try again in 24 hours.
- A failed forge never stores your screenshots, so you can simply start again with another set.
Once the files are on your computer, place them in your agent’s project or workspace. The agent-files guides explain how Claude Code, OpenClaw, Cursor and Hermes each pick them up.
Questions
How long does my first soul take?
Around five minutes end to end with Flash Forge. Choosing screenshots is the slowest part; the reading itself usually takes 30 to 120 seconds.
Can I leave the app while it reads?
Yes. You can opt in to a single notification when the soul is ready, or simply come back; the reading screen keeps checking for you.
What if I would rather talk than upload screenshots?
Choose Gao Dao instead. It is a mentor conversation in Chinese of up to 12 questions and takes longer, but gives the same four files plus an in-depth report.
