Pick Flash Forge when you want speed: a few chat screenshots, about two minutes, and it works with chats in any language. Pick Gao Dao when you want depth: a mentor conversation in Chinese of up to 12 questions about real moments in your life, ending with an Enneagram type, a wing and a free in-depth report. Either way you finish with the same four agent files.
The forge screen puts it simply. Flash Forge is tagged “Fastest”, Gao Dao “Deepest”, and the line above them reads: two paths, both give you the same four files.
If you are still undecided, a practical rule of thumb: start with Flash Forge to see the format in a couple of minutes, then try Gao Dao on a quieter evening when you have time to reflect. You lose nothing by doing both.
Side by side
- Input: Flash Forge uses 3–10 screenshots of your own chats. Gao Dao uses your answers to up to 12 questions, typed or spoken.
- Language: Flash Forge reads chats in any language. Gao Dao converses in Chinese, with the English interface still available around it.
- Time: Flash Forge usually reads in 30–120 seconds. Gao Dao takes as long as the conversation, then one to two minutes to form the result.
- Steering: Gao Dao lets you choose one of six agent types first, such as Professional agent or Child’s study buddy. Flash Forge reads you without a brief.
- Extras: Gao Dao adds a free in-depth report with chapters on motivation, fear, desire and belief, relationships, and working with an AI agent.
- Kept data: Flash Forge keeps the reading, never the screenshots. Gao Dao keeps a summary of the conversation, never the full transcript.
- Output: both give a named soul, a sigil, Voice, Pushback and Priority traits, and soul.md, identity.md, user.md and agents.md. Only Gao Dao adds an Enneagram type, a wing and other possible types.
Choose Flash Forge if
- You want a result now, or you are trying AgentSoul for the first time.
- You write a lot in chat apps and your messages sound like you.
- You prefer English, or mix languages freely.
- You would rather not answer personal questions directly.
- You just want to see the format first; the sample chats let you do that without your own screenshots.
Choose Gao Dao if
- You are comfortable reading and answering in Chinese.
- You want to know your Enneagram type and wing, which Flash Forge does not give.
- Your chats are mostly voice notes, stickers or short logistics that do not show how you think.
- You have a specific agent in mind, such as a professional coding agent, a family calendar or a study buddy, and want the questions shaped around it.
- You are interested in the why behind your habits, not just the style of your messages.
- You would value a longer written report to read, reflect on and share.
Why the results can differ
The two forges look at different evidence. Flash Forge sees your surface: rhythm, word choice, how you react in the moment. Gao Dao hears your account of yourself: what you remember, what you regret, what you protect. Both are partial views. Flash Forge describes your style in traits without naming a type; Gao Dao goes on to propose an Enneagram type and wing, and lists other possible types it considered. If you do both, read the two results together: where the Flash traits and the Gao Dao reading agree, you can usually trust them most.
Remember that every result is an AI-generated hypothesis, not a diagnosis. What matters in the end is whether the agent built from it works well for you.
And Deep Forge?
There is a third route that is not yet in the app. Deep Forge is a 49-question Enneagram questionnaire in English, available today on the web at agentsoul.market and planned for the app in version 1.1. It suits people who prefer a structured questionnaire to either screenshots or conversation, and it produces the same four files.
Questions
Does Flash Forge tell me my Enneagram type?
No. Flash Forge reads your chat style and gives your soul a name, a sigil and three traits, but no type number. For an Enneagram type and wing, use Gao Dao, or Deep Forge on the web.
I do not read Chinese. Can I still use Gao Dao?
Gao Dao asks its questions in Chinese, so it works best for people comfortable in Chinese. Flash Forge accepts chats in any language and is the better choice otherwise.
Can I do both?
Yes. Each forge creates its own soul in My souls, within each forge’s daily limit, so you can compare the files side by side.
